Jennifer Lopez's journalist sister, Lynda Lopez, is ready to enter a new positive era. The longtime media personality took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that she wanted to continue bringing heartwarming stories to her followers.

Lynda has been sharing videos on topics like nonprofits helping the homeless in New York and Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Pre-K program in the Bronx. She said she has been touched by the response to the stories she has shared about her community and issues happening around the world.

"I am so happy, and I am so touched by all of the lovely things and encouraging things that so many of you have been writing about some of the stories that I post on here about things that are happening in our community and in our world," she said.

The positive response has made her realize just how much she enjoys telling those stories. "I've been thinking lately about how much I love doing those stories," Lynda continued. "That's what I love spending my time doing, seeing the good work that people are doing in our city and in our world."

For the 55-year-old, it's not just about finding a feel-good headline. She said she loves learning about the people and places behind the work happening in their communities. "And finding out more about the people and the places that make those good things happen," she said.

That idea of people helping one another seems to be at the heart of what Lynda wants to explore more. "When we're all truly helping each other out," she said. "I love it when we're all helping each other."

Jennifer Lopez has said her sisters have remained a constant presence throughout her career.

So now, the journalist plans to make those kinds of stories an even bigger part of what she shares online. "I'm going to try something and share a little bit more of that with you," she teased, promising "some stories that I really, really love." She also wants her followers to have a say in what comes next. "And I want you to tell me what you think," she said.

Her hope is pretty simple: that the stories she finds will leave people feeling the same way she does, with a little more optimism about what is possible when people actually look for the good around them. "Hopefully you'll have the same reaction I have, which is just to think about how much good we could do in the world if you just seek it out," she said.

It's a fitting direction for the Emmy award-winning journalist, who has spent much of her career telling stories and connecting audiences with people making an impact.  "So stick around, tell me what you think," she told her followers before signing off, "I love you guys." She captioned the video, "I'm going to share something I'm excited about with you very soon…"

My list of must-try jean trends for 2026 is growing; it currently includes all the silhouettes one denim expert revealed to me as the must-watch of the year (save for baggy jeans, because I’ve been wearing those for years). That said, one style that didn’t land on said aforementioned list, but is clearly due for big, big things this year, is flare jeans. With a growing list of celebrity fans that includes Meghan Markle, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford, Kendrick Lamar (you know that moment), and, of course, Amal Clooney, there’s no denying the retro denim style that was popular in the early aughts is back—and bigger than ever.

The fact that Clooney wore flared jeans is noteworthy in and of itself. The human rights lawyer is known for her refined dressing approach, regularly opting for billowy trousers, trendy boho blouses, and comfy sweater dresses—all staples that read elegant and timeless. So, when I spotted her earlier this year in the laid-back blues while out to dinner with hubby George Clooney, I knew I had to write about it. Of course, the fact that she wore flare jeans, the style countless celebs have worn the last few weeks, is noteworthy, too, as it further cements the style’s ‘It’ status for 2026.

Clooney opted for a pair of medium-wash jeans with subtle fading (another Y2K reference, IMO). Her blues had an ultra-high waist—so high, in fact, that they appeared to hit at the ribcage. It’s the complete opposite of the controversial low-rise denim, so it’s a possible sign that the high-high waist is coming back, too. Not to mention, Clooney’s jeans had a slightly oversized fit from the thighs to the ankles, but it’s that flared hem that has all my attention; it’s taking me back to my middle school days when I’d wear my True Religion flares every single day. (No joke.)

It’s undeniable that Clooney’s jeans have that nostalgic flair (ahem, flare, wink, wink), but it’s also undeniable that celebs are clamoring to the style because it’s incredibly flattering. The blues basically act like an optical illusion, making legs look super long, especially when paired with a style that has an extra-long hemline and sky-high platforms á la Lopez; the singer is 5-feet-5-inches, but don’t you agree with me that she looks way taller in these jeans? Yeah, that’s thanks to the flares. The flare hem and longer inseams help create the look of legs for days, but add in a high-waisted cut, platform heels, and a crop top, and you’ll fool people into thinking you’re inches taller.

Leg-elongating factor aside, there’s no denying that flares are fun and nostalgia-inducing—and that’s exactly what I need right now. So, shop some more fun, funky flares from Frame, NYDJ, and Mavi below.
