Jennifer Lopez’s Venetian Adventure: Recreating a Madonna Classic!

Jennifer Lopez is feeling shiny and new!

During a recent trip to Venice, Lopez recreated Madonna‘s iconic “Like a Virgin” music video in the canals — and shared a snippet of it on social media on Sunday, Aug. 2.

In the video, Lopez, 57, appears on a gondola as she sings and dances to the lyrics of the song — while floating through the canals.

“I had to do it…” she wrote on X.

Madonna, 67, released “Like a Virgin” in October 1984 and dropped the music video a month later. Madonna recently recreated the iconic music video with Julia Garner and posted a video of it on social media.

“Like A Virgin……again and again. 🇮🇹,” Madonna captioned the March post.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the Office Romance star appeared on an episode of Track Star* and one of the songs she was quizzed on was Madonna’s “Ray of Light.” At the time, she revealed how far back her fandom went.

“When I was little, I wanted to be like her,” the “On the Floor” singer said. “That’s why I started coming to the village. I wanted to dress like her.”

She also said she would “cut up” her clothes to “look like her.”

“I always said to myself, I never want to get stuck. I always wanted to keep evolving. I always wanna keep doing new things,” the “Waiting for Tonight” singer said.

In addition to idolizing her growing up, Lopez previously revealed she was supposed to be a part of the iconic 2003 performance where Madonna kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

“I was working on a movie, Shall We Dance, at the same time, and they just wouldn’t let me out of the movie,” she said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohenin June, explaining why she ultimately didn’t do it.

However, leading up to the performance, they had rehearsed everything.

“I went to Madonna’s house! It was me, her and Britney. She was playing her guitar, and we were singing,” she recalled, adding of the kiss, “It was a thing, like, ‘We’re going to get married, I’m going to be the groom, you guys are going to sing.’”

“I was the one who was going to come out first and sing ‘Like a Virgin,’” she continued. “I can’t even really remember what it was, but it was something like that.”

My list of must-try jean trends for 2026 is growing; it currently includes all the silhouettes one denim expert revealed to me as the must-watch of the year (save for baggy jeans, because I’ve been wearing those for years). That said, one style that didn’t land on said aforementioned list, but is clearly due for big, big things this year, is flare jeans. With a growing list of celebrity fans that includes Meghan Markle, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford, Kendrick Lamar (you know that moment), and, of course, Amal Clooney, there’s no denying the retro denim style that was popular in the early aughts is back—and bigger than ever.

The fact that Clooney wore flared jeans is noteworthy in and of itself. The human rights lawyer is known for her refined dressing approach, regularly opting for billowy trousers, trendy boho blouses, and comfy sweater dresses—all staples that read elegant and timeless. So, when I spotted her earlier this year in the laid-back blues while out to dinner with hubby George Clooney, I knew I had to write about it. Of course, the fact that she wore flare jeans, the style countless celebs have worn the last few weeks, is noteworthy, too, as it further cements the style’s ‘It’ status for 2026.
