Watch Jennifer Lopez Leap Into Action in Shotgun Wedding Featurette

The first trailer for Prime Video’s Shotgun Wedding introduced a fresh twist on the traditional romantic comedy by combining romance, humor, and explosive action. Starring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel, the movie follows a couple whose destination wedding quickly turns into a dangerous survival mission after armed pirates take their guests hostage.

Rather than focusing solely on relationship drama and wedding complications, Shotgun Wedding presents itself as a romantic action comedy. Darcy and Tom are already dealing with doubts about their upcoming marriage when their special day is interrupted by a group of violent criminals. With their families and friends in danger, the couple must put their personal problems aside and work together to save everyone.

A behind-the-scenes featurette offers a closer look at the demanding action sequences and stunts featured throughout the movie. Lopez and Duhamel discuss what attracted them to the unusual combination of comedy, romance, and action. Both actors have experience in romantic and action-oriented roles, making them well suited for a project that requires them to balance emotional scenes with physically demanding sequences.

The actors also explain how important trust was during production. Many of the action scenes required them to work closely together, sometimes while physically restrained or tied up. Their ability to rely on each other was particularly important during the more complicated stunts.

The featurette also reveals some of the physical challenges involved in bringing the story to life. Lopez and Duhamel perform a variety of stunts as their characters escape through the jungle while trying to avoid heavily armed pirates. Despite wearing formal wedding clothes, they are forced into increasingly dangerous situations as they fight to protect their loved ones.

Director Jason Moore highlights Lopez’s background as a dancer as an important advantage during the action sequences. Her experience with movement, rhythm, and choreography helped her perform the carefully coordinated fight scenes and physical stunts. Lopez also praised Moore for creating an environment where she and Duhamel felt confident during the more dangerous moments, including an intense zipline sequence high above the ground.

The movie features an eclectic supporting cast led by Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Tom’s outspoken mother. Her character also surprises everyone by demonstrating an unexpected talent for handling a machine gun. Sonia Braga, Cheech Marin, Selena Tan, D’Arcy Carden, Callie Hernandez, Desmin Borges, Steve Coulter, Alberto Isaac, and Lenny Kravitz also appear in supporting roles. Kravitz plays Darcy’s former boyfriend, who attends the wedding and adds another complication to the already chaotic celebration.

Shotgun Wedding ultimately combines the familiar elements of a destination wedding comedy with the excitement of an action adventure. Darcy and Tom must overcome their relationship problems while facing armed attackers, dangerous escapes, and unpredictable situations. Their wedding vows suddenly take on a much more literal meaning as they fight to keep their families alive.

The film is available to stream on Prime Video, offering viewers a fast-paced blend of romance, comedy, and action centered around one unforgettable wedding day.

My list of must-try jean trends for 2026 is growing; it currently includes all the silhouettes one denim expert revealed to me as the must-watch of the year (save for baggy jeans, because I’ve been wearing those for years). That said, one style that didn’t land on said aforementioned list, but is clearly due for big, big things this year, is flare jeans. With a growing list of celebrity fans that includes Meghan Markle, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford, Kendrick Lamar (you know that moment), and, of course, Amal Clooney, there’s no denying the retro denim style that was popular in the early aughts is back—and bigger than ever.

The fact that Clooney wore flared jeans is noteworthy in and of itself. The human rights lawyer is known for her refined dressing approach, regularly opting for billowy trousers, trendy boho blouses, and comfy sweater dresses—all staples that read elegant and timeless. So, when I spotted her earlier this year in the laid-back blues while out to dinner with hubby George Clooney, I knew I had to write about it. Of course, the fact that she wore flare jeans, the style countless celebs have worn the last few weeks, is noteworthy, too, as it further cements the style’s ‘It’ status for 2026.

Clooney opted for a pair of medium-wash jeans with subtle fading (another Y2K reference, IMO). Her blues had an ultra-high waist—so high, in fact, that they appeared to hit at the ribcage. It’s the complete opposite of the controversial low-rise denim, so it’s a possible sign that the high-high waist is coming back, too. Not to mention, Clooney’s jeans had a slightly oversized fit from the thighs to the ankles, but it’s that flared hem that has all my attention; it’s taking me back to my middle school days when I’d wear my True Religion flares every single day. (No joke.)

It’s undeniable that Clooney’s jeans have that nostalgic flair (ahem, flare, wink, wink), but it’s also undeniable that celebs are clamoring to the style because it’s incredibly flattering. The blues basically act like an optical illusion, making legs look super long, especially when paired with a style that has an extra-long hemline and sky-high platforms á la Lopez; the singer is 5-feet-5-inches, but don’t you agree with me that she looks way taller in these jeans? Yeah, that’s thanks to the flares. The flare hem and longer inseams help create the look of legs for days, but add in a high-waisted cut, platform heels, and a crop top, and you’ll fool people into thinking you’re inches taller.

Leg-elongating factor aside, there’s no denying that flares are fun and nostalgia-inducing—and that’s exactly what I need right now. So, shop some more fun, funky flares from Frame, NYDJ, and Mavi below.
