Jennifer Lopez Faces New Heartache 18 Months After Ben Affleck Divorce

Jennifer Lopez may have finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck in January 2025, but one major piece of their former life together remains unresolved: their enormous Beverly Hills mansion.

The 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom estate has had a difficult time finding a buyer. The property was initially listed for $68 million in 2024, but after failing to sell, it was eventually taken off the market. It later returned with a reduced asking price of $52 million before disappearing from listings once again.

Now, the lavish residence has reportedly resurfaced with an even lower price of $49.95 million. However, according to TMZ, a potential sale recently fell apart even after a buyer had reportedly placed a substantial deposit on the property.

The failed deal leaves Lopez back at square one. The listing has since been removed from online real estate platforms, leaving questions about whether she will relist the home or take a different approach to selling it.

Affleck has reportedly already transferred his share of the property to Lopez, meaning she would receive the proceeds from any eventual sale. However, the singer would still likely take a loss compared with what the former couple originally paid.

Lopez and Affleck purchased the sprawling Beverly Hills estate in May 2023 for approximately $60.85 million, making the current asking price significantly lower than their original purchase price.

Inside the Lavish Beverly Hills Estate

Despite the challenges surrounding its sale, the mansion has no shortage of impressive features that could make it attractive to the right buyer.

Set on extensive grounds, the property offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and a long list of luxury amenities. The estate includes a large swimming pool, basketball and pickleball courts, a fully equipped gym, and even a boxing ring.

There is also a dedicated sports lounge and multiple entertaining spaces, including a bar and a luxurious guest penthouse. The expansive property reportedly provides parking for as many as 80 vehicles, making it particularly suited to someone who enjoys hosting large gatherings.

For Lopez, however, the house has become closely connected with a marriage that ultimately did not last.

The couple rekindled their romance in 2021 after first becoming romantically involved in the early 2000s. They married in 2022, but their relationship ended just two years later. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, and the divorce was finalized in January 2025.

Jennifer Lopez's Perspective on Breakups

While the continued struggle to sell the mansion may be frustrating, Lopez has recently spoken candidly about how she views the end of a relationship.

During an appearance on Subway Takes, the singer and actress offered a surprisingly positive perspective on breakups. Rather than seeing the end of a relationship as a failure, she described it as an opportunity for personal growth and a fresh start.

Lopez suggested that people should even celebrate making the difficult decision to leave an unhealthy or unfulfilling relationship, viewing it as a step toward becoming a better version of themselves.

She also shared a particularly bold perspective on heartbreak, arguing that the person whose heart is broken can ultimately come out stronger because they have faced the pain and have the opportunity to move forward.

As Lopez continues building a new chapter of her life, the Beverly Hills mansion remains one of the last tangible reminders of her marriage to Affleck. Whether she eventually finds a buyer or chooses another path, the $50 million property is proving to be a far more complicated part of their divorce story than anyone expected.

My list of must-try jean trends for 2026 is growing; it currently includes all the silhouettes one denim expert revealed to me as the must-watch of the year (save for baggy jeans, because I’ve been wearing those for years). That said, one style that didn’t land on said aforementioned list, but is clearly due for big, big things this year, is flare jeans. With a growing list of celebrity fans that includes Meghan Markle, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford, Kendrick Lamar (you know that moment), and, of course, Amal Clooney, there’s no denying the retro denim style that was popular in the early aughts is back—and bigger than ever.

The fact that Clooney wore flared jeans is noteworthy in and of itself. The human rights lawyer is known for her refined dressing approach, regularly opting for billowy trousers, trendy boho blouses, and comfy sweater dresses—all staples that read elegant and timeless. So, when I spotted her earlier this year in the laid-back blues while out to dinner with hubby George Clooney, I knew I had to write about it. Of course, the fact that she wore flare jeans, the style countless celebs have worn the last few weeks, is noteworthy, too, as it further cements the style’s ‘It’ status for 2026.

Clooney opted for a pair of medium-wash jeans with subtle fading (another Y2K reference, IMO). Her blues had an ultra-high waist—so high, in fact, that they appeared to hit at the ribcage. It’s the complete opposite of the controversial low-rise denim, so it’s a possible sign that the high-high waist is coming back, too. Not to mention, Clooney’s jeans had a slightly oversized fit from the thighs to the ankles, but it’s that flared hem that has all my attention; it’s taking me back to my middle school days when I’d wear my True Religion flares every single day. (No joke.)

It’s undeniable that Clooney’s jeans have that nostalgic flair (ahem, flare, wink, wink), but it’s also undeniable that celebs are clamoring to the style because it’s incredibly flattering. The blues basically act like an optical illusion, making legs look super long, especially when paired with a style that has an extra-long hemline and sky-high platforms á la Lopez; the singer is 5-feet-5-inches, but don’t you agree with me that she looks way taller in these jeans? Yeah, that’s thanks to the flares. The flare hem and longer inseams help create the look of legs for days, but add in a high-waisted cut, platform heels, and a crop top, and you’ll fool people into thinking you’re inches taller.

Leg-elongating factor aside, there’s no denying that flares are fun and nostalgia-inducing—and that’s exactly what I need right now. So, shop some more fun, funky flares from Frame, NYDJ, and Mavi below.
