Game of Thrones Alumni Teams Up with Jennifer Lopez in New Film

Three more stars have joined The Last Mrs. Parrish. The upcoming movie, which is an adaptation of the 2017 novel of the same name by sisters Lynne and Valerie Constantine (writing as Liv Constantine), will be directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future) from a screenplay by Andrea Berloff (The Mother) and John Gatins (Flight).

The popular novel, which is a Reese's Book Club Pick, has already cast Atlas star and recording artist Jennifer Lopez as the wealthy Daphne Parrish, who has a seemingly perfect life with her husband Jackson. When the down-on-her-luck Amber Patterson insinuates her way into Daphne's, hoping to seduce Jackson, she ends up getting more than she bargained for.

Per Variety, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has joined the cast of The Last Mrs. Parrish as Jackson Parrish. Also joining the cast are Isabel May as Amber Patterson and Pierson Fodé in an as-yet unknown role.

Because the majority of the important supporting characters in the novel are women, it remains unclear who Pierson Fodé (who had his breakout role in Netflix's The Man from Toronto, appearing opposite Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson) will be playing. However, because he has joined the cast so early, it seems likely that his character will have a weighty role.

What This Means For The Last Mrs. Parrish

So far, the stars that have joined the cast of the Jennifer Lopez movie are very promising. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's performance as Jaime Lannister in all eight seasons of the HBO fantasy hit Game of Thrones has proven that he has the range required to play the complicated character at the center of Amber's scheme.

Isabel May has also proven herself to be a major up-and-coming star. In addition to playing Elsa Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel 1923, she is set to portray the daughter of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) in the upcoming Scream 7, a role which will likely have risen her star even higher by the time The Last Mrs. Parrish debuts.

Our Take On The Last Mrs. Parrish Casting Announcement

So far, the Robert Zemeckis movie has gathered a cast that skillfully combines well-known veterans with up-and-comers. If the remainder of the ensemble comes together just as nicely, The Last Mrs. Parrish could be set to become a solid hit in the vein of similar thrillers such as Gone Girl and A Simple Favor.

Should it indeed become a hit, The Last Mrs. Parrish is already primed to potentially launch a new film franchise, as the original novel has already received a 2024 sequel titled The Next Mrs. Parrish, which is also ripe for an adaptation.

My list of must-try jean trends for 2026 is growing; it currently includes all the silhouettes one denim expert revealed to me as the must-watch of the year (save for baggy jeans, because I’ve been wearing those for years). That said, one style that didn’t land on said aforementioned list, but is clearly due for big, big things this year, is flare jeans. With a growing list of celebrity fans that includes Meghan Markle, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford, Kendrick Lamar (you know that moment), and, of course, Amal Clooney, there’s no denying the retro denim style that was popular in the early aughts is back—and bigger than ever.

The fact that Clooney wore flared jeans is noteworthy in and of itself. The human rights lawyer is known for her refined dressing approach, regularly opting for billowy trousers, trendy boho blouses, and comfy sweater dresses—all staples that read elegant and timeless. So, when I spotted her earlier this year in the laid-back blues while out to dinner with hubby George Clooney, I knew I had to write about it. Of course, the fact that she wore flare jeans, the style countless celebs have worn the last few weeks, is noteworthy, too, as it further cements the style’s ‘It’ status for 2026.

Clooney opted for a pair of medium-wash jeans with subtle fading (another Y2K reference, IMO). Her blues had an ultra-high waist—so high, in fact, that they appeared to hit at the ribcage. It’s the complete opposite of the controversial low-rise denim, so it’s a possible sign that the high-high waist is coming back, too. Not to mention, Clooney’s jeans had a slightly oversized fit from the thighs to the ankles, but it’s that flared hem that has all my attention; it’s taking me back to my middle school days when I’d wear my True Religion flares every single day. (No joke.)

It’s undeniable that Clooney’s jeans have that nostalgic flair (ahem, flare, wink, wink), but it’s also undeniable that celebs are clamoring to the style because it’s incredibly flattering. The blues basically act like an optical illusion, making legs look super long, especially when paired with a style that has an extra-long hemline and sky-high platforms á la Lopez; the singer is 5-feet-5-inches, but don’t you agree with me that she looks way taller in these jeans? Yeah, that’s thanks to the flares. The flare hem and longer inseams help create the look of legs for days, but add in a high-waisted cut, platform heels, and a crop top, and you’ll fool people into thinking you’re inches taller.

Leg-elongating factor aside, there’s no denying that flares are fun and nostalgia-inducing—and that’s exactly what I need right now. So, shop some more fun, funky flares from Frame, NYDJ, and Mavi below.
