Jennifer Lopez has a new movie coming up on Netflix, and it will see an exciting reunion that will be great for the movie. Jennifer Lopez has succeeded in both music and acting, sometimes even bringing these two together. Lopez’s career started as a dancer, which led to her TV debut in the early 1990s on the comedy show In Living Color. Lopez made her film debut in 1995 in the drama movie My Family, but her big break arrived two years later when she starred in the biographical musical drama Selena.

Selena chronicles the life and career of Tejano music star Selena Quintanilla, culminating with her murder in 1995. Selena was a critical success and properly launched Lopez’s acting career, which has been unstoppable ever since. In recent years, Lopez has mostly starred in streaming movies, and her next project, Office Romance, is no exception. However, what’s making Office Romance stand out already is its cast, which includes a Selena reunion that is a great sign for the movie.

Edward James Olmos & Jennifer Lopez Are Playing Family Again

The cast of Office Romance includes Brett Goldstein, Bradley Whitford, Tony Hale, Jodie Whittaker, and many more, but the name that stands out is Edward James Olmos, who starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in Selena. Olmos played Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father, and he had a key role in the story, thus sharing many scenes with Lopez. Part of the first act of Selena shows the younger years of Abraham Quintanilla, who, along with his band The Dinos, faced rejection in Texas.

It was Abraham who seized Selena’s talent and formed the band Selena y Los Dinos, with Selena as lead singer, his son A.B. on bass, and his daughter Suzette on drums. Abraham was overprotective of Selena and the group, opposing her more revealing outfits, her relationship with Chris Pérez, and more, but he also helped Selena and Suzette confront Yolanda Saldívar when they found out she had been stealing from them. Selena and Abraham’s relationship is key to her story, and the chemistry between Olmos and Lopez is undeniable.

Selena was praised for how it addressed Selean’s passion for music and how it told her family history, with critics pointing out the performances of Lopez and Olmos as some of the movie’s biggest strengths. Now, Olmos is once more playing Lopez’s father in the rom-com Office Romance, making for a nostalgic reunion that, hopefully, will see their characters getting along a lot better.

It Worked Once, It Will Work Again

As mentioned above, the chemistry between Olmos and Lopez as on-screen father and daughter is one of the best parts of Selena, which makes their reunion a great sign for Office Romance. What's known about the plot of Office Romance is that it follows the love between an airline CEO and a lawyer she employs, but dating in the office isn't allowed. Having Olmos and Lopez playing father and daughter again guarantees that the movie will at least count on their good chemistry and on-screen dynamic, which is a big and positive step.

Of course, how big Olmos’ role will be in Office Romance is unknown, but hopefully, he will have enough screen time with Jennifer Lopez and their characters will have an easier relationship than they did in Selena, so the audience can see a familiar yet different side to their dynamic.

My list of must-try jean trends for 2026 is growing; it currently includes all the silhouettes one denim expert revealed to me as the must-watch of the year (save for baggy jeans, because I’ve been wearing those for years). The fact that Clooney wore flared jeans is noteworthy in and of itself. The human rights lawyer is known for her refined dressing approach, regularly opting for billowy trousers, trendy boho blouses, and comfy sweater dresses—all staples that read elegant and timeless. So, when I spotted her earlier this year in the laid-back blues while out to dinner with hubby George Clooney, I knew I had to write about it. Of course, the fact that she wore flare jeans, the style countless celebs have worn the last few weeks, is noteworthy, too, as it further cements the style’s ‘It’ status for 2026.

Clooney opted for a pair of medium-wash jeans with subtle fading (another Y2K reference, IMO). Her blues had an ultra-high waist—so high, in fact, that they appeared to hit at the ribcage. It’s the complete opposite of the controversial low-rise denim, so it’s a possible sign that the high-high waist is coming back, too. Not to mention, Clooney’s jeans had a slightly oversized fit from the thighs to the ankles, but it’s that flared hem that has all my attention; it’s taking me back to my middle school days when I’d wear my True Religion flares every single day. (No joke.)

It’s undeniable that Clooney’s jeans have that nostalgic flair (ahem, flare, wink, wink), but it’s also undeniable that celebs are clamoring to the style because it’s incredibly flattering. The blues basically act like an optical illusion, making legs look super long, especially when paired with a style that has an extra-long hemline and sky-high platforms á la Lopez; the singer is 5-feet-5-inches, but don’t you agree with me that she looks way taller in these jeans? Yeah, that’s thanks to the flares. The flare hem and longer inseams help create the look of legs for days, but add in a high-waisted cut, platform heels, and a crop top, and you’ll fool people into thinking you’re inches taller.
