For years, rumors have swirled that the Harry Potter alum “stormed off” after refusing to film a particularly graphic scene, but Rogen says that simply wasn’t the case.
The buzz reignited following Rogen’s recent interview with GQ, where he was asked about the persistent gossip. In the interview, Rogen’s comments were interpreted by many as a confirmation that Watson walked out, leading to a wave of social media speculation.
“I want to correct a story that has become a big talking point,” Rogen wrote in a heartfelt statement. “Emma Watson did not ‘storm off’ the set, and it’s very important to me that I make that clear.”

Rogen explained that the specific details of the scene were not originally in the script. Because the moment was improvised on the day of filming, Watson hadn’t agreed to the content beforehand.
“The scene was not what was originally scripted, it was getting improvised, changed as we were shooting it, and she was not comfortable with the direction it was going,” Rogen clarified.
Far from being a “diva” moment, Rogen emphasized that Watson remained a total professional throughout the conversation. He noted that the situation was actually a result of a “lack of communication” on his part as a director.
“I should have been more clear and I should have made sure she was comfortable with the changes,” he admitted. “We agreed that she would not appear in the scene, and there were no hard feelings then and there are none now.”
