Evanna Lynch says she was disappointed to miss Tom Felton and Emma Watson’s on-set crushes

Harry Potter fans have spent decades obsessing over the real-life chemistry between the cast members, but it turns out one of the franchise’s own stars was just as eager for the behind-the-scenes gossip as the rest of us.

Evanna Lynch, who stole hearts as the delightfully eccentric Luna Lovegood, recently opened up about joining the wizarding world a little too late to witness the peak of the teenage drama. Specifically, she was pretty bummed to miss out on the highly discussed crush between Emma Watson and Tom Felton.

The revelation has quickly sparked a wave of nostalgia across social media, with Potterheads on X and TikTok once again dreaming about the ultimate “Dramione” pairing that almost was.

Missing Out on the Hogwarts Drama

Lynch made her magical debut in the fifth installment of the franchise, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”. While her character brought some much-needed lightness and unconventional wisdom to the increasingly dark films, Lynch admitted that off-camera, things had also gotten a bit too calm for her liking.

In a candid interview with Us Weekly, Lynch lamented that the legendary on-set romantic tension had already fizzled out by the time she arrived.

“Oh, it was so disappointing for me because I joined on the fifth one,” Lynch shared. “I was on Order of the Phoenix and there was this sense that exciting things had happened in the last movie, and I just missed it.”

According to the actress, the legendary hormones of the fourth film, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” – which famously featured the glamorous and tense Yule Ball – had completely settled.

“[I joined when] everyone had kind of grown out of their crushes and they were moving on to, like, people in the outside world,” Lynch explained. “And I felt that like, damn, I missed all the drama! It was so fun the last film, according to some stories. But no, by the time I got there, they were all mature and those hormones were calming down.”

The Emma and Tom Connection

For years, rumors have swirled about Watson and Felton’s relationship status, despite their characters, Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy, being bitter enemies on screen.

Watson herself fueled the fire back in when she admitted that Felton was her very first crush during the filming of the first two movies. The speculation reached a fever pitch in when the duo shared a cozy photo together while on holiday in South Africa. More recently, Felton kept fans guessing by cryptically commenting that he and Watson are “something, if that makes any sense.”

Naturally, Lynch’s comments about the cast’s changing dynamics have reignited fan excitement online, with many taking to TikTok to edit together classic clips of Watson and Felton from their early Hogwarts days.

A Dream Role Born from Real-Life Magic

While Lynch may have missed out on the teenage dating drama, her journey to the world of Harry Potter remains one of the most inspiring stories in Hollywood.

Long before she ever set foot on a film set, Lynch was a passionate fan of the books. As a young girl, she faced severe struggles with anorexia and was hospitalized multiple times, later sharing that the Harry Potter series was a vital source of comfort that kept her going through her darkest times.

When the open casting call for Luna Lovegood was announced, Lynch beat out over , other hopefuls for the role. J.K. Rowling herself agreed that Lynch was the absolute perfect fit to bring the whimsical Ravenclaw to life.

Even if she arrived after the teenage crushes had faded into history, there is no doubt that Lynch found her own perfect magic on set.

Unexpected Team-Up: Prince William and Emma Watson Unite for Change

Prince William had plenty to celebrate this weekend, but his latest public appearance quickly turned heads for a very different reason. After marking his 44th birthday and Father's Day with his family, the future king returned to royal duties—and made a surprisingly personal confession about the emotional toll of climate change.

William joined Hollywood stars Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch at a United for Wildlife forum in London, an initiative he launched with the Royal Foundation in 2013. The organization works around the world to combat wildlife trafficking, environmental crime, and the destruction of endangered species.

But it was William's candid admission about his own fears that stole the spotlight.

The Prince of Wales revealed that climate change has caused him "sleepless nights," admitting he has struggled with anxiety about what the future could look like. Yet instead of allowing those fears to overwhelm him, William said seeing real progress through conservation efforts has helped keep his environmental anxiety under control.

He also delivered a powerful message to business leaders, urging them to become the kind of leaders they admired when they were children. With technology and innovation transforming the world at an incredible pace, William challenged CEOs to use their influence to create meaningful change.

The event launched London Climate Action Week, with more royal appearances expected, including the Earthshot Prize assembly.

Emma Watson also delivered a surprising revelation of her own. The Harry Potter star highlighted the fashion industry's enormous environmental impact, pointing out that it produces more emissions than aviation and ranks behind only oil among major polluting industries.

Watson, who is also pursuing a doctorate in philosophy at Oxford, shared a hilarious story about mistakenly believing paparazzi were following her. After spotting photographers with telephoto lenses, she arranged a distraction and escaped through another exit. The twist? They weren't photographing her at all. They were waiting to capture a red kite.

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch praised William as "a great guy" and urged businesses and individuals to recognize that they can still make a difference, even when global environmental challenges appear overwhelming.

With William, Watson, and Cumberbatch joining forces on the issue, the London forum delivered a clear message: the fight against environmental destruction is becoming impossible for the world's biggest names to ignore.
