Emma Watson Addresses Reunion Photo Mix-Up Involving Emma Roberts

Emma Watson reacts to the Harry Potter reunion’s Emma Roberts photo mistake. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which premiered on January 1 in commemoration of the 2001 release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, saw the cast members reminisce on their time making the films and featured never before seen behind-the-scenes footage, remembrances, and interviews. Viewers were also treated to a surprise cameo during the long-awaited special. Along with the films’ stars, including Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint, Roberts made a surprising – and confusing – appearance.

In a segment of the HBO Max special during which Watson reflected on her younger years, the show’s producers used a childhood photo of Roberts instead of the Hermione actress. Viewers were quick to spot the mistake during the Watson segment and took to social media to poke fun at the goof. The reunion’s producers acted quickly to fix the error. Less than two days after the special’s release, they responded to the mistake and promised a corrected version of the Harry Potter special. It’s now been updated on HBO Max’s site and, luckily, Watson seems to have taken the error in stride.

Watson chimed in on the fracas in a sweet way, showing she has no hard feelings over the confusion. “I was NOT this cute,” she wrote in an Instagram post accompanying the Roberts picture. Along with tagging Roberts, in a show of solidarity, Watson capped the post off with the hashtag #emmasistersforever.

Given that Watson is seemingly laughing it off, the mistake will likely be just an amusing footnote in the history of the Harry Potter franchise. And while there may have been some egg on HBO Max’s face over the error, it’s unlikely going to deter the streaming service from producing future reunion specials. HBO found success in late 2020 with its Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion event and followed it up last year with FRIENDS: The Reunion. Since the streamer was so quick to act on the situation, and now that the Harry Potter special is fixed and even Watson herself is cracking jokes over it, there’s little chance viewers shouldn’t expect future reunion specials coming from HBO Max down the road.

Harry Potter devotees are some of the most passionate enthusiasts in all of fandom, and they were quick to spot the Emma mixup. Luckily, it seems as though Watson, Hermoine herself, is laughing it off while Roberts gets another surprise onscreen appearance.

Unexpected Team-Up: Prince William and Emma Watson Unite for Change

Prince William had plenty to celebrate this weekend, but his latest public appearance quickly turned heads for a very different reason. After marking his 44th birthday and Father's Day with his family, the future king returned to royal duties—and made a surprisingly personal confession about the emotional toll of climate change.

William joined Hollywood stars Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch at a United for Wildlife forum in London, an initiative he launched with the Royal Foundation in 2013. The organization works around the world to combat wildlife trafficking, environmental crime, and the destruction of endangered species.

But it was William's candid admission about his own fears that stole the spotlight.

The Prince of Wales revealed that climate change has caused him "sleepless nights," admitting he has struggled with anxiety about what the future could look like. Yet instead of allowing those fears to overwhelm him, William said seeing real progress through conservation efforts has helped keep his environmental anxiety under control.

He also delivered a powerful message to business leaders, urging them to become the kind of leaders they admired when they were children. With technology and innovation transforming the world at an incredible pace, William challenged CEOs to use their influence to create meaningful change.

The event launched London Climate Action Week, with more royal appearances expected, including the Earthshot Prize assembly.

Emma Watson also delivered a surprising revelation of her own. The Harry Potter star highlighted the fashion industry's enormous environmental impact, pointing out that it produces more emissions than aviation and ranks behind only oil among major polluting industries.

Watson, who is also pursuing a doctorate in philosophy at Oxford, shared a hilarious story about mistakenly believing paparazzi were following her. After spotting photographers with telephoto lenses, she arranged a distraction and escaped through another exit. The twist? They weren't photographing her at all. They were waiting to capture a red kite.

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch praised William as "a great guy" and urged businesses and individuals to recognize that they can still make a difference, even when global environmental challenges appear overwhelming.

With William, Watson, and Cumberbatch joining forces on the issue, the London forum delivered a clear message: the fight against environmental destruction is becoming impossible for the world's biggest names to ignore.
