Salma Hayek Seeks Revenge For The Past In First Trailer For Angelina Jolie's New Movie Without Blood

Salma Hayek is on a quest for revenge.

The first trailer for Without Blood has been released, showcasing Hayek's search for vengeance in a film by Angelina Jolie based on a bestselling novel. Filmed in 2022 and first released at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024, Without Blood tells the story of Nina (Hayek), a woman on a quest for revenge after her family is killed during a conflict when she was a child. Specifically, she's set her sights on Tito (Demián Bichir), a man who, when he was a young boy, allowed her to stay hidden while the rest of her family was killed.

Now, Brainstorm Media has released the first trailer for Without Blood, revealing what to expect from Jolie and Hayek's new movie. In the trailer, Hayek's Nina can be seen confronting Bichir's Tito in a public location, monologuing about the past and what led her to this point. In particular, she discusses the conflict her family was killed in, not just through her perspective as a girl, but also as a young woman, watching violence unfold across her life. She blames Tito for it, and all he can do is apologize for what she's been through. Check out the full trailer below:

In addition, the movie is based on a bestselling novel of the same name by Alessandro Baricco, originally published in Italian in 2002. The trailer lays the groundwork for a very similar story set to unfold, with Hayek's Nina and the life she led after the death of her family being a crucial point for the story. Alongside her and Bichir, other stars include Angelica Pisilli, Karolay Fernandez, Ariel Perez Lima, Patricio Jose, Juan Minujín, Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, and Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt. The movie is set for theatrical release on September 18, 2026.

Unfortunately, despite having so much star power behind it, Without Blood reviews haven't been the most positive. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 36% from critics based on 13 reviews, showcasing mostly unfavorable reactions to the movie. Although it has some clear stars both behind and in front of the camera, it didn't do much to impress critics at TIFF. However, this score is apt to change as it debuts to a wider audience, meaning there's still hope for a more positive reception overall.

The tragic, generational approach to Without Blood emphasizes just how big the premise stretches, showcasing the pain Nina's been through while also emphasizing Tito's role. Hayek and Bichir seem poised to give strong performances, but the real tell will be if Jolie's directing and script manage to snag a more positive reception from audiences upon release.

Salma Hayek Tells Story Of Her Pet Owl Vomiting On Harry Styles' Head

Salma Hayek, star of The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, revealed that her pet owl once vomited on pop star Harry Styles’ head. Hayek first appeared as Sonia, the wife of hitman Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson), in 2017’s The Hitman's Bodyguard. After being a surprise hit at the box office, the buddy comedy will be followed up by a sequel releasing in theaters June 16. The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard will see Hayek step into the spotlight after appearing in the first film for only a few minutes.

After starring alongside Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson in the action sequel, Hayek is poised to have a huge year. The Phase 4 Marvel film Eternals will see Hayek star as Ajak, the leader of the ancient superhero team. After Eternals debuts on November 5, it won’t be long until Hayek is seen in Ridley Scott's House of Gucci alongside Adam Driver and Lady Gaga on November 24. While making the press rounds for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Hayek has been the subject of various anecdotes, such as her slapping Reynolds shockingly hard, and now she has an even more bizarre story to share.

Appearing on The Ellen Show to promote The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, Hayek recalled a time in which her pet owl, Kering, landed and vomited on Styles’ head. Though she was hesitant to name the “very important celebrity” whose head was the victim of this unfortunate incident, Hayek revealed towards the end of the interview that it was in fact Styles, the former One Direction member turned Dunkirk actor and solo singer. Watch Hayek recount the incident below beginning at the 6:50 mark:

With The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard releasing June 16, Hayek is just about finished making press rounds for the film. However, it won’t be long until Marvel begins the promotional campaign for Eternals, which Hayek will likely be a huge part of considering her prominent role in the film as Eternal Ajak. Hopefully, Hayek will have more interesting anecdotes to share then that could include her high-profile co-stars like Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga.

Hayek is certainly no stranger to action films after rising to prominence with roles in Robert Rodriguez’s Desperado and From Dusk till Dawn. Her breakthrough role then came in 2002 with Frida, for which she was nominated for an Oscar. While she hasn’t starred in many action flicks since then, she will make her highly-anticipated return to the genre with her prominent role in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard followed by her superhero debut in Eternals.
