Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek have appeared in many successful movies. Beyond starring as James Bond, Brosnan played lead roles in The Thomas Crown Affair and Mamma Mia!, the latter of which initially generated over $610 million and warranted a sequel. He also joined Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Black Adam.
Hayek, who gained recognition in From Dusk Till Dawn and earned an Academy Award nomination for Frida, has several notable hits under her belt. Among them are star-studded comedies Grown Ups and The Hitman's Bodyguard. Hayek has also been part of major franchises through Eternals and the Puss in Boots movies.
Brosnan and Hayek have even starred in a few movies together, the most recent being Some Kind of Beautiful. The rom-com premiered in 2015 with an underwhelming box office performance, weakened by a mere 6% Tomatometer score, despite a cast that included Jessica Alba and Malcolm McDowell.
After The Sunset Has Found Success On Streaming

After the Sunset marked the first collaboration between Brosnan and Hayek. The action comedy was released in 2004 and follows Max Burdett (Brosnan), a thief being tracked down by the FBI. Hayek plays Lola Cirillo, Max's romantic partner; other cast members include Woody Harrelson, Naomie Harris, and Don Cheadle.
Upon release, After the Sunset was a commercial misfire, grossing only $62 million globally. However, more than two decades after premiering, the movie has surged on streaming. After the Sunset is now finding success on Netflix and currently ranks No. 5 on the platform's list of Top 10 Movies in the U.S. Today.
The five films ahead of it include Happy Gilmore 2, My Oxford Year, Freelance, and KPop Demon Hunters, with Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation trailing behind. Rounding out the Top 10 are Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Trainwreck: Storm Area 51, Madea's Destination Wedding, and Until Dawn.
What This Means For After The Sunset

After the Sunset gaining viewership on Netflix suggests that Brosnan and Hayek's movie could begin to garner a following and greater appreciation, despite being a box office bomb when it originally premiered. Not only did the film underperform, but it lacked any critical support and presently holds an 18% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Still, After the Sunset boasts a strong cast and has a relatively higher audience-based Popcornmeter score of 52%. Its popularity on the streaming service may reflect that viewers are enjoying it slightly more, and could result in more people choosing to revisit the movie or finally check it out after 21 years.

Salma Hayek Tells Story Of Her Pet Owl Vomiting On Harry Styles' Head
Salma Hayek, star of The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, revealed that her pet owl once vomited on pop star Harry Styles’ head. Hayek first appeared as Sonia, the wife of hitman Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson), in 2017’s The Hitman's Bodyguard. After being a surprise hit at the box office, the buddy comedy will be followed up by a sequel releasing in theaters June 16. The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard will see Hayek step into the spotlight after appearing in the first film for only a few minutes.
After starring alongside Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson in the action sequel, Hayek is poised to have a huge year. The Phase 4 Marvel film Eternals will see Hayek star as Ajak, the leader of the ancient superhero team. After Eternals debuts on November 5, it won’t be long until Hayek is seen in Ridley Scott's House of Gucci alongside Adam Driver and Lady Gaga on November 24. While making the press rounds for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Hayek has been the subject of various anecdotes, such as her slapping Reynolds shockingly hard, and now she has an even more bizarre story to share.

Appearing on The Ellen Show to promote The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, Hayek recalled a time in which her pet owl, Kering, landed and vomited on Styles’ head. Though she was hesitant to name the “very important celebrity” whose head was the victim of this unfortunate incident, Hayek revealed towards the end of the interview that it was in fact Styles, the former One Direction member turned Dunkirk actor and solo singer. Watch Hayek recount the incident below beginning at the 6:50 mark:
With The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard releasing June 16, Hayek is just about finished making press rounds for the film. However, it won’t be long until Marvel begins the promotional campaign for Eternals, which Hayek will likely be a huge part of considering her prominent role in the film as Eternal Ajak. Hopefully, Hayek will have more interesting anecdotes to share then that could include her high-profile co-stars like Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga.
Hayek is certainly no stranger to action films after rising to prominence with roles in Robert Rodriguez’s Desperado and From Dusk till Dawn. Her breakthrough role then came in 2002 with Frida, for which she was nominated for an Oscar. While she hasn’t starred in many action flicks since then, she will make her highly-anticipated return to the genre with her prominent role in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard followed by her superhero debut in Eternals.
