Jessica Alba

Star of Materialists Takes on the Director’s Chair: A Bold Move!

She starred in the biggest romantic comedy of the year; now, Dakota Johnson is preparing to go behind the camera to direct her first feature. The Materialists star is set to direct the drama A Tree Is Blue, with Jessica Alba and Charli XCX set to star. According to reports, A Tree Is Blue will center around a young autistic woman who's looking for fun, friendship, and freedom after graduating from high school, but has to escape the shadow of her loving but overbearing mother.

The script is by Vanessa Burghardt, who co-starred with Johnson in Cha Cha Real Smooth; Burghardt is also set to star in the film. This will be Johnson's first feature directorial effort, but she previously co-directed the music video for Coldplay's "Cry Cry Cry" while she was dating frontman Chris Martin, and also helmed the short film Loser Baby, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival this year. A Tree Is Blue is set to film in Los Angeles next month.

Where Can the Creators of 'A Tree Is Blue' Be Seen Next?

After a busy year in which she starred in both Materialists and Splitsville, Johnson is next set to star alongside Anne Hathaway in the Colleen Hoover adaptation Verity. After a hiatus from the screen, Alba was back in action last year with the actioner Trigger Warning. Next, she's set to star in the biographical sports drama Maserati: The Brothers.

She heated up the pop charts with last year's "Brat Summer," and now Charli XCX has been busy on the silver screen. She's set to star in a number of upcoming films, including the fantasy 100 Nights of Hero, the volcanic drama Erupcja (which she co-wrote), the Cathy Yan thriller The Gallerist, the action comedy Sacrifice, the horror film Faces of Death, and the Gregg Araki erotic thriller I Want Your Sex. She'll also play herself in the upcoming music mockumentary The Moment, alongside Alexander Skarsgård; she conceived the story for the film, and will also produce it. She will also produce the score for the David Lowery film Mother Mary with Jack Antonoff. Burghardt, who is on the autism spectrum, recently starred in A Dance in the Snow and Lost and Found in Cleveland.

A Tree Is Blue will be produced by Johnson, Ro Donnelly, and Sam Racanelli for TeaTime Pictures; Rob Paris and Mike Witherill will produce for Rivulet. TeaTime’s Hyunji Ward will executive produce alongside Rick Steele.

A Tree Is Blue is set to begin filming next month; no release date has yet been announced. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.

Fans Alarmed by Jessica Alba's Stunning New Instagram Photo

With a growing number of Hollywood stars drawing attention for increasingly slim appearances, Jessica Alba has become the latest celebrity to spark discussion online over her physique.

Alba recently shared an Instagram photo dump highlighting some of her August moments so far. The first photo showed the actress posing for a selfie in a tiger-stripe bikini, putting her slender frame on display. She accessorized the look with gold jewelry and sunglasses.

The rest of the carousel featured snapshots of the Honest founder golfing with her youngest son, spending time with her daughters, relaxing in the sun, enjoying campfires with friends and sharing moments with her boyfriend, Danny Ramirez.

Jessica Alba Fans Point Out Her Recent Weight Loss

However, many fans focused on the first bikini photo and expressed concern about Alba's appearance, with some speculating about weight-loss drugs despite there being no confirmation that she has used them.

"Another one lost to Ozempic," one person wrote.

Another said, "Not another Ozempic girl, she was so fine."

"Jessica, we love you but don't turn into Ariana Grande," another commenter wrote, referencing the singer's own recent appearance and the speculation surrounding her weight.

Another fan simply wrote, "I hope all is well," while someone else commented, "Not looking healthy at all. So sad."

Others pushed back against the criticism, arguing that Alba's body should not be subject to public scrutiny.

"People shaming her for the way she looks need their head examined. It's none of your business and it's also the reason women are so self-conscious of their bodies. Mind your business and your manners," one person wrote.

Hollywood Stars Face Health & Weight Loss Concerns

The online conversation surrounding the mom of three comes amid a broader trend of celebrities being scrutinized over their changing appearances. Stars including Charlize Theron, Anna Faris, Ariana Grande and Jenna Ortega have all faced public speculation about weight loss, health or the use of medications such as Ozempic.

While dramatic transformations among celebrities have long attracted attention, recent conversations have increasingly centered on stars who were already petite and now appear noticeably slimmer.

However, without confirmation from the individuals themselves, speculation about the reasons behind someone's weight or appearance remains just that—speculation.
