Jessica Alba has brand new ink. In a new Instagram post, the actress shared a close-up of her fresh back tattoo, which features an abstract phoenix with a trailing tail.
Tattoo artist Winterstone also shared a photo of the design, writing in the caption, “PHOENIX RISING.” Alba later uploaded a video of the process via her Instagram Stories.
Alba’s new tattoo likely symbolizes new beginnings as a phoenix rising usually symbolizes renewal and rebirth. This is especially timely for Alba considering the actress just celebrated her 45th birthday with a sentimental post about fresh starts. “I’m walking into this next year with more grace, more joy, more gratitude, and a deeper love for the people who make my life mine,” she wrote. She also recently switched things up in the hair department, debuting her lightest look in months.
Back in February, Alba shared another message about new beginnings while marking the Chinese New Year. “The past year – Year of the Snake 🐍 – was all about shedding and releasing what no longer serves. Facing hard truths. Making meaningful changes,” she wrote. “Now it’s time for forward momentum – moving with intention, trusting (the universe) the ride, and leaning into this year with courage. It doesn’t need to be perfect just start what you’ve been sitting with for so long – that inner knowing. This is your moment. Take action.”
Alba’s new chapter comes after she separated from her husband of 16 years, Cash Warren, last January. She has since started dating actor Danny Ramirez, who recently shared a sweet tribute to the actress for her birthday.
Alba’s latest ink comes after she was tatted by Winterstone last year. She posed with the tattoo artist on Instagram at the time, showing off some new cursive script on her arm.
Alba has been adding to her ink collection since she was a teenager. In 2019, she explained to Refinery29that there were only a few pieces she ever regretted. “I do have a few tattoos, and I regret one of them… maybe two,” Alba said. One of them, a bow on her lower back, is “kind of a tramp stamp,” she said.
“I got it when I was, like, 17 and I’m so irritated that I got it,” she went on. “I got it lasered many times and it’s not coming out.”
