Jennifer Lawrence is known for her filter-free honesty, and her latest revelation about working with Robert Pattinson is no exception.
The Hunger Games alum is opening up about her experience on the set of the upcoming thriller Die My Love, explaining exactly why she felt comfortable filming intimate scenes with the Batman star without the constant presence of an intimacy coordinator.
Appearing on the latest episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, Lawrence, , got real about the “team building” exercises she shared with Pattinson, , to prepare for their roles.
“We did dance lessons together, which was like team building exercises,” Lawrence told hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. “In the end, it ended up being more helpful just for choreography of sex scenes and fighting scenes.”
In the film, directed by Lynne Ramsay, Lawrence plays Grace, a woman battling postpartum depression who enters a state of psychosis alongside her partner, Jackson (Pattinson). Given the heavy and physical nature of the roles, the topic of an intimacy coordinator—a role that has become an industry standard following the MeToo movement—naturally came up.
But for Lawrence, the decision felt less about protocol and more about her trust in her co-star.
“We did not have one or maybe we did, but we didn’t really… I felt really safe with him,” she admitted.
The actress went on to praise Pattinson’s professionalism, noting that his real-life devotion to partner Suki Waterhouse helped keep the vibes strictly platonic and professional.
“He’s not pervy and he’s very in love with [partner] Suki [Waterhouse],” Lawrence shared. “We mostly were talking about our kids and relationships so there wasn’t any weird, like, ‘Does he think I like him?’”
Lawrence didn’t hold back when comparing the experience to other Hollywood dynamics she has encountered in the past.
“If there was a little bit of that, I would probably have an intimacy coordinator,” she explained. “A lot of male actors get offended if you don’t want to f them, and then the punishment starts. But he was not like that, for the record.”
Beyond the choreography of the scenes, Lawrence also addressed appearing nude in the film—a task she says was made easier by her second pregnancy.
“I don’t care about nudity. I’m not sensitive about it,” she said, noting that her pregnancy actually helped quiet her inner critic.
“I think being pregnant took a lot of, like, vanity anxiety away,” Lawrence added. “Before No Hard Feelings, I was dieting and not eating carbs and working out. I was pregnant [in Die My Love]. What was I gonna do? Not eat?”
The gritty drama, which also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, and Sissy Spacek, is already generating major buzz for its intense performances.
