Jennifer Lawrence is known for her “relatable queen” energy, but her latest behind-the-scenes revelation might be her most chaotic one yet.
The -year-old actress recently sat down with longtime friend and Don’t Look Up costar Leonardo DiCaprio for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series. While the duo caught up on their upcoming Martin Scorsese project, the conversation took a hilarious turn when they began discussing their worst onset habits.
For Lawrence, her biggest struggle is her “all or nothing” approach to the workday.
“My bad habit is I’m so good at letting go at the end of the day, that I don’t think about the next day,” Lawrence admitted. “And then it’s a mad scramble in the hair and makeup trailer.”
While she joked that the habit keeps her from going “crazy” in her personal life, she confessed that “the next morning is hell.”
The Silver Linings Playbook star recalled a high-pressure moment with Robert De Niro where she hadn’t realized she needed to memorize a monologue of sports statistics until she arrived on set.
“I’m like, ‘I’m not going to f——- waste Robert De Niro’s time,’” she joked, noting she miraculously nailed the first take before “messing up” every take after.
However, things got truly trippy during the filming of the blockbuster The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Lawrence, who is “obsessive” about getting enough sleep while working, revealed a pill mix-up that led to a very blurry day as Katniss Everdeen.
“I also once took an Ambien in the morning, thinking it was something else,” she told DiCaprio.
The timing couldn’t have been worse. Lawrence was scheduled to film a dance scene with the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, who played Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee.
“I was hallucinating,” Lawrence admitted of the accidental sedation.
The No Hard Feelings star also noted that her costar Elizabeth Banks, who played the famously high-strung Effie Trinket, wasn’t exactly thrilled with her performance that day.
“Elizabeth Banks got really annoyed with me,” Lawrence said with a laugh. “Maybe she didn’t know that I was on an Ambien.”
This isn’t the only time a medication mishap plagued Lawrence’s work. She also recalled a stressful night while filming ‘s Red Sparrow where she accidentally took an Adderall instead of a sleeping pill.
“I didn’t sleep all night. I was taking hot showers in a panic,” she shared, adding that the following day of filming “sucked” because she simply can’t function without rest.
Fans of the franchise won’t have to wait much longer to see Lawrence back in the world of Panem. She is reportedly set to return for ’s Sunrise on the Reaping, a prequel centered on the backstory of Haymitch Abernathy.
Lawrence previously told Variety she is ” percent” open to stepping back into Katniss’s tactical boots.
“If Katniss could ever come back into my life, percent,” she said.
Hopefully, she checks the labels on her pill bottles before the first day of shooting!
