Jennifer Lawrence is famous for her “no-filter” honesty, but her latest behind-the-scenes confession might be her most relatable—and hilarious—yet.
During a sit-down for Variety and CNN’s Actors on Actors series, the -year-old star revealed to her Don’t Look Up co-star Leonardo DiCaprio that her time in the Arena wasn’t always as intense as it looked on screen. In fact, for one memorable scene in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, she was barely awake!
Lawrence admitted that she accidentally took an Ambien in the morning, thinking it was a different pill, right before she was scheduled to film a dance sequence with the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
“I was hallucinating,” Lawrence told a laughing DiCaprio. “Elizabeth Banks got really annoyed with me.”
DiCaprio, who has surely had his own long days on set, couldn’t help but label the mishap as one of those “key screwups” that every actor experiences at least once in their career.
But the “Ambien incident” wasn’t the only sleep-related disaster J-Law has faced. She also shared a frantic story from the set of the spy thriller Red Sparrow, where a mix-up went the opposite direction.
“I took an Adderall instead of a sleeping pill, and then I didn’t sleep all night,” she confessed. “I was taking hot showers in a panic. I am not somebody who can function without sleep.”
To make matters worse, Lawrence had to deliver a mouthful of dialogue the next morning. “I had to say the phrase ‘Senate Armed Services Committee’ in a Russian accent,” she joked. “That sucked.”
