The awards season is officially in full swing, and while the competition is fierce, nobody is having more fun with it than Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone.
The Die My Love star, , is currently going viral after poking fun at her long-standing “rivalry” with Stone following the Actor Awards nominations. Lawrence, who earned a Lead Actress nod for her haunting performance in the drama, joked that her best friend has been a bit too successful lately.
“Every time she tries to talk today, I’m like, ‘Why are you not saying sorry?’” Lawrence quipped during a recent press appearance. “She’s been beating me for decades, but it’s an honor.”
The internet is living for the “faux feud,” with fans on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok sharing clips of the duo’s iconic friendship history. But despite the playful jabs, the two Oscar winners are actually joining forces for what might be the most anticipated project of the decade.
During a November episode of the Las Culturistas podcast with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, Lawrence let a major secret slip: she and Stone are producing a movie centered on none other than the Muppets’ reigning diva, Miss Piggy.
“I don’t know if I can announce this, but I am just going to,” Lawrence told the hosts. “Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie and Cole Escola is writing it.”
The project, penned by the brilliant mind behind the Broadway hit Oh, Mary!, apparently started as a joke during the pandemic. Lawrence explained on The Tonight Show that a friend suggested it would be “hilarious if Miss Piggy got canceled.”
While she clarified that “getting canceled” isn’t necessarily the plot, the idea of the temperamental feminist icon navigating modern Hollywood was enough to get her to call the one person she knew would be on board.
“Emma Stone is the Muppet-head,” Lawrence explained with a laugh. “Also, Emma Stone is a shark. Emma Stone will turn around in a leather jacket with a cigar and be like, ‘Hey kid! Let me tell you a thing or two about Hollywood.’ So I went to her to be like, ‘What do we do?’”
As for whether the two superstars will actually appear on screen alongside the Muppets? Lawrence seems to think it’s a done deal. “I think so,” she added. “We have to.”
While we wait for Miss Piggy’s big-screen comeback, is shaping up to be a massive year for cinema. Fans are already buzzing about the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, as well as the long-awaited The Devil Wears Prada , which sees Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway returning to the halls of Runway.
Whether she’s chasing an Oscar or chasing a Muppet, one thing is certain: Jennifer Lawrence is going to make us laugh the entire way there.
Jennifer Lawrence And Josh Hutcherson Are Returning To The Hunger Games Universe
The rumors are true, and months of denials have officially aged like milk. Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are reportedly returning to the world of Panem, reprising their iconic roles as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in Lionsgate’s highly anticipated prequel, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
At first, the idea seemed impossible. The new film takes place decades before Katniss ever volunteered for the Hunger Games, making the return of Lawrence and Hutcherson appear unlikely. However, the filmmakers have reportedly found a clever way to bring the beloved characters back without disrupting the timeline of the original trilogy.
The key is a framing device reportedly taken from Suzanne Collins’ latest novel. The story is expected to feature an older Katniss and Peeta spending time with Haymitch Abernathy as he tells them about the horrifying experience he endured during his own Hunger Games. This approach gives fans an opportunity to see the original characters again while allowing the prequel to remain focused on Haymitch’s story.
The revelation is especially amusing considering Josh Hutcherson’s recent comments about the project. For months, the actor insisted that he knew nothing about the upcoming film and emphasized how much he still loved the franchise. In Hollywood, however, such denials can often mean that a carefully worded confidentiality agreement is keeping the truth under wraps. Fans now have plenty of reason to laugh at those earlier statements.
Sunrise on the Reaping centers on the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell. This particular Games was designed to be especially brutal, with twice the usual number of tributes being sent into the arena. The story follows a young Haymitch as he struggles to survive one of the most devastating and psychologically intense Games in Panem’s history.
Bringing Katniss and Peeta into the story through a framing sequence could create an emotional connection between Haymitch’s past and the characters fans have followed since the beginning of the franchise. It also gives Lawrence and Hutcherson a chance to return without changing the events established in the original films.
Fans have already taken to social media to celebrate the reported reunion, with many joking about how successfully the actors managed to keep the secret. The combination of familiar stars, Suzanne Collins’ source material, and director Francis Lawrence returning has created enormous anticipation.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 20, 2026. Whether Katniss and Peeta appear only briefly or play a more meaningful role remains unclear, but their return could make this new chapter one of the franchise’s biggest cinematic events yet.
