Jennifer Aniston Challenges the No Pain, No Gain Fitness Myth

Jennifer Aniston is done with the “burn.”

The Friends icon, , is officially debunking one of the oldest myths in the fitness book: the idea that a workout has to be grueling to be effective. For decades, the world has watched Aniston maintain her legendary physique, but the actress is now admitting that her old approach to staying fit was actually a mistake.

“No pain, no gain. That’s not true at all,” Jennifer exclusively tells PEOPLE. “You can actually have gain with no pain.”

The revelation has quickly gone viral on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), as fans applaud the star for her refreshingly honest take on aging and exercise. For years, Aniston says she felt trapped by the high-pressure fitness standards that dominate Hollywood.

“I always had the message in my brain,” she admits. “You gotta do minutes of cardio, then floor work, and then weights.”

Like so many of us, Jen followed the mantra that the harder you push, the better the results. However, she’s since discovered that the “all or nothing” mindset isn’t just unnecessary—it can be downright damaging to the body.

The Morning Show star credits her physical transformation to her partnership with Pvolve, a functional, low-impact fitness program. Since switching to a gentler routine, she says she’s seen more progress than ever before, without the physical toll.

“You can actually enjoy your workout, not break your body, and have an incredible transformation,” she shares. “In all the workouts I’ve tried over the years, this one has transformed my body more than any of the others.”

Looking back on her younger years, she feels a sense of empathy for her past self. “Boy, you didn’t have to hurt your body so much back then,” she reflects. “You didn’t need to beat yourself up.”

While she’s a total pro when it comes to her health, don’t expect her to be joining you for any New Year’s resolutions. Aniston admits she prefers a consistent lifestyle over high-pressure goals.

“I’m not a good person to ask about that. I don’t make resolutions,” she says candidly. “I really don’t. I don’t want to let myself down. I don’t want to fail at that.”

Her “keep it real” attitude doesn’t stop at the gym. Jen recently made headlines for her hilarious appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she addressed the viral rumor that she once tried a “salmon sperm facial.”

“I did,” she told a bewildered Jimmy Fallon. “I just took the woman’s word that that’s what it was. And I was like, ‘Sure.’”

As the audience erupted in laughter, she tried to explain the science behind the unusual treatment, comparing it to micro-needling. “And then it was to push in the salmon sperm,” she said with a mischievous smile. “Don’t I have beautiful salmon skin?”

Whether she’s joking about high-end skincare or revolutionizing how we think about the gym, Jennifer Aniston continues to be the relatable queen of wellness we all need.

Her message is clear: listen to your body, skip the pain, and maybe—just maybe—leave the salmon sperm to the professionals.

Jennifer Aniston and Friends Show Off Stunning Summer Styles

These days, when people say something is basic, they don’t always mean it in a flattering way. But when it comes to wardrobe staples, basic is anything but boring. Just look at the ways Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Garner, and Joanna Gaines have been wearing them.

All three stars recently wore mix-and-match pieces that are the foundation of any great capsule wardrobe. Aniston paired vintage-wash jeans with a fitted black tank for a sleek, casual look, and Garner dressed up light-wash jeans with a luxe-looking, short-sleeve polo shirt. As for Gaines, she went monochromatic in black jeans and a loose-fitting tank.

If you’re also now inspired to upgrade your own staples, keep scrolling for lookalike Quince clothing pieces starting at $16.

Jennifer Aniston’s Minimalist Masterclass

Aniston’s minimalist tank top and jeans combo is a go-to for her, and we can see why. To recreate her effortless ensemble, we found this Quince tank top with a modest scoop neck, fitted silhouette, and thick straps. It’s made of breathable cotton that’s lightweight enough for summer but can also be layered in the fall and winter. Team it with this pair of jeans, which has a vintage-inspired wash similar to the actress’s. The wide-leg style makes them a comfortable choice whether you’re running errands or heading to lunch.

Jennifer Garner’s Polished Polo

If your style favors classic silhouettes, Jennifer Garner’s sunset look belongs in your closet. Her timeless polo shirt looks nearly identical to this Quince one, which is made of soft, luxe cashmere. It has ribbed, fitted arms, a mid-sized collar, and an adjustable button-front neckline. Shoppers say it’s “lightweight enough for warm weather,” with one noting they “didn’t feel hot at all” wearing it on a 90-degree day. When it comes to her jeans, this lightwash pair is a great option with its subtle heathering at the hips and traditional five-pocket design. The barrel silhouette isn’t overwhelming, and reviewers call them “comfortable in all the right places.”

Joanna Gaines’ Black Basics

Basics are timeless, but that doesn’t mean they can’t also feel modern. Gaines’ monochromatic look proves that. Like this Quince top, her tank has a breezier fit with a subtle curve along the arms, and yes, while it looks good on its own, it’s also great for styling under linen button downs in summer and cardigans come fall. Our personal favorite piece of her look, though, is the sleek, flared jeans. Achieve the same style with Quince’s Luna pair, which mirrors Gaines’ silhouette and has built-in stretch for comfortable, all-day wear and a just-right mid-rise fit.
