As I was commuting to the office in 17-degree weather this morning, two thoughts came to mind: I really wish I were still in bed right now, and it’s time to get a new winter coat.
Luckily, Jennifer Aniston came to my rescue, serving a masterclass in warm winter dressing on a recent visit to New York City. Take after Aniston’s winter-ready outfit with this similar puffer jacket that’s “absolutely perfect for bitterly cold weather,” according to one reviewer. Its thick, quilted exterior looks nearly identical to the actress’s outfit topper (which my editor told me reminds her of a sleeping bag — in the best way), and its oversized silhouette is roomy enough to fit bulky winter layers comfortably.

In my opinion, loose, straight-leg jeans are like the Goldilocks of denim cuts — that is, not too tight nor too relaxed. That’s why I’m taking a page out of Aniston’s style book and snapping up these sleek jeans while they’re marked down (in select sizes). I can already picture myself wearing them while running around NYC, like Aniston, or dressing them up with a blazer before heading into the office, à la Taylor Swift.

These days, when people say something is basic, they don’t always mean it in a flattering way. But when it comes to wardrobe staples, basic is anything but boring. Just look at the ways Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Garner, and Joanna Gaines have been wearing them.
All three stars recently wore mix-and-match pieces that are the foundation of any great capsule wardrobe. Aniston paired vintage-wash jeans with a fitted black tank for a sleek, casual look, and Garner dressed up light-wash jeans with a luxe-looking, short-sleeve polo shirt.
